Using hebrew keyboard
« on: January 01, 2012, 03:42:47 AM »
Hi,

I've installed the application and installed a virtual Hebrew keyboard in it, but when I use my physical keyboard it still write English characters.
Is there anyway to use the physical keyboard in any other language but English?

thanks.

I think you should activate the keyboard first... in settings > Language & Keyboard > Check the checkbox before Hebrew Keyboard... (and uncheck the others)

If you type something, it will probably be in hebrew, only thing I'm not sure off...
If you will be able to see the hebrew characters, because characters that are unknown to YouWave might show up as something else.

The reciever should be able to see the hebrew characters.

I enabled the keyboard and i am able to use hebrew using the virtual keyboard, with the mouse obviously.
When i use the physical keybord it just write the corresponding english letter that is assigned to the keyboard, instead of the hebrew one.

Sounds like the Youwave textbox listens to the Windows keyboard language...
Maybe if you change the Windows keyboard language to hebrew... you'll be able to type hebrew from the keyboard

Some interesting tip:
I remember that if you change the keyboard language, the language usually only changes in the active window...
So make sure the cursor is blinking in a Youwave textbox and then change the keyboard language
In windows 7 the keyboard symbol shows on the right-bottom of the screen, rightclick and change the keyboard language

I can not guarantee that this is the right answer, but it's worth the try.

You are probably right. The front-end of YouWave recognizes only the scan codes of the keyboard without language differentiation. But we haven't tested other languages through keyboard (due to lack of language skills), so there may be hits and misses.

I see. Well, if you decide to add that feature, count me as a beta tester :)
Thanks for the help anyway.

I think the original poster was referring to the physical Hebrew keyboard: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hebrew_keyboard.
