[Resolved!]Infected Home 3.8 File?
« on: October 29, 2013, 11:07:24 AM »
Hi.
I have tried to download Home 3.8 from your site. However, my Norton Internet Security have deleted it claiming it contains a virus (Suspicious.Cloud.7.EP)
Thanks

Norton Internet Security had deleted the downloaded file "Youwave_Android-Home-3-8.exe" immediately after download was completed.

Suspicious.Cloud.7.EP message from Norton in this case is a false positive message. The message has caused some issues in the Norton community:

http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Whats-up-with-the-Cloud-7-EP-false-positive-thing-I-thought-it/td-p/966275

Your downloaded 3.8 installer is safe to run. You can disable Norton while installing YouWave.

YouWave was white-listed by Symantac. Now we will need to go through the white-listing process of Symantac again for Norton to remove this false positive warning.

To make sure there is no hacking happened on our installer distribution site, we just tested the downloaded 3.8 installer. We scanned it using Kaspersky and the result was clean.

Update: Tested and confirmed that Norton Internet Security reports Suspicious.Cloud.7.EP message and it says it is from a heuristic analysis. We know that "heuristic" analysis is often false.

Update 2: It is confirmed that it is because YouWave hosts the installers on MediaFire Business Cloud. Apparently, Symantec has issue with it. If you do the following, you will be OK:
1. Pause Norton protection temporarily;
2. Download YouWave installer;
3. After download, before running it, resume Norton protection;
4. Scan YouWave installer. It will be clean.

Go figure.

Update 3:
As an alternative download source, please directly download from http://youwave.com/downloads/Youwave_Android-Home-3-8.exe.

Update 4: We filed another white-list request to Symantec, the company who developed Norton.

Update 5. Norton has notified us that they have removed the wrong detection. Now if you download 3.8 Home, Norton does not complain.

CHEERS!
