I accidentally uninstalled WhatsApp and then re installed, it asked me if i wanted to restore the conversations and i clicked yes, problem is none of the conversations were recovered, it only remembered which groups i was in but not a single message was recovered.

I assumed that WhatsApp automatically saves a backup at 4am? or is this incorrect with Youwave?

Any ideas?

WhatsApp backup and restore process for Android is documented here:
http://www.whatsapp.com/faq/en/android/20887921

Probably the problem here is that at 4AM, your WhatsApp on YouWave was never running. Did you ever let YouWave run overnight?
YouWave is updated to Android Lollipop. See youwave.com/download

Yeah you're right, mine wasn't running at 4am and never backed up, just tested it after a manual backup and it worked. It should let you change time for auto back up, unless it's a server thing on their end.

Also, make sure you save a copy of file <user>/.Virtualbox/Harddisks/youwave_vm01.vdi. This file has all your data.

In my opinion, to restore WhatsApp data, the best solution is to make use of  Any WhatsApp Recovery.

if you have backup, you can

1. Go to Settings > Application > WhatsApp and click “Uninstall” to uninstall WhatsApp.
2. Reinstall WhatsApp and verify your phone number, you will be prompted to restore your message history.
3. Simply tap on “Restore” and your missing WhatsApp chat history and messages less than 7 days is restored.

If it does not work, you can refer to

The messages are stored in local, so it can be restored after a reinstall. However, the reinstall will completely erase the new data on your phone. If you choose a partial restore, then you should extract the messages from backup files. This is a much flexible way to recover deleted messages from whatsapp.

In that case, you could apply to data recovery for android app. It helped me. But there is no 100% guarantee. Hope it works for you. Good luck.
